George Antheil and Hedy Lamarr
No, Hedy Lamarr passed on January 19th of 2000. Interestingly enough she was not only an actress but a radio scientist. She is the co-inventor of radio spread spectrum communications technology.
spread-spectrum technology
which type of spread spectrum is advantageous? which type of spread spectrum is advantageous?
She was cremated, and her ashes were spread in the Vienna Woods.
Spelling difference.... :)
"Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS)DSSS multiplies the data bits by a very fast pseudo-random bit pattern (PN sequence) that "spreads" the data into a large coded stream that takes the full bandwidth of the channel. DSSS is the basis for CDMA cellphones and 802.11 Wi-Fi wireless transmission. For a technical example of DSSS technology, see cdma.Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS)FHSS continuously changes the center frequency of a conventional carrier several times per second according to a pseudo-random set of channels, while chirp spread spectrum changes the carrier frequency. Because a fixed frequency is not used, illegal monitoring of spread spectrum signals is extremely difficult, if not downright impossible depending on the particular method. FHSS is the transmission technology in Bluetooth. See integrated-business-systems-and-services-inc, wifiand bluetooth."From spread-spectrum
On August 11, 1942 Hedy Kiesler Markey (her married name) and George Antheil were granted US Patent 2,292,387 for a frequency-hopping spread-spectrum communication system for torpedo guidance systems. The US Navy turned down her idea and did not realize it's value until the US naval blockade of Cuba in 1962 when it was first implemented. Today, this technology is widely used Bluetooth, WI-FI, ans microwave connections.
A spectrum.
CDMA technology uses spread spectrum concept thereby giving users unique code to de-spread the information being sent to them. so CDMA is secure and occupies a large bandwidth of information compared to GSM technology.
