Connecticut is one of the New England states, and also one of the Northeastern states. The Northeast region consists of two smaller regions, New England and the Mid-Atlantic or Middle-Atlantic states. The six New England states are Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The Mid-Atlantic states are New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and some people also consider Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington D.C. to be part of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions as well.
