Itach-san probably knows Naruto's going to need it against Sasuke one day. it was probably for back up, because Itachi knew there were a couple of options for Sasuke when he died....
1. Sasuke could return to the village.
2. Sasuke could continue his life of vengeance.
If/since sasuke picked the second choice, Naruto probably will have to activate the power at some point ~ i hope that is really soon though cuz Sakura, Kakashi and Naruto are just now going up against Sasuke! >:D
