After Sasuke battled Itachi, it was said by Madara Uchiha, AKA Tobi, that Itachi died on purpose. Madara stated that Itachi wanted to battle Sasuke to finally give him what he wanted. During the battle, Sasuke managed to go up against all of Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan techniques and stay safe. Towards the end of the battle, Itachi starts to reach out to Sasuke to get his eyes so he could have the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan to keep from going blind. Itachi used his ultimate jutsu, Susanoo and blocked all of Sasuke's attacks, even though it came with the cost of killing him. When Sasuke was backed into a wall, Itachi simply tapped Sasuke on the forehead and said, "Sorry Sasuke, there won't be a next time" and dropped to the ground. While waking up, he finds Madara and when he sees Madara's Sharingan, Sasuke immediately uses Amaterasu, unlocking his Mangekyo Sharingan.

Itach-san probably knows Naruto's going to need it against Sasuke one day. it was probably for back up, because Itachi knew there were a couple of options for Sasuke when he died.... 1. Sasuke could return to the village. 2. Sasuke could continue his life of vengeance. If/since sasuke picked the second choice, Naruto probably will have to activate the power at some point ~ i hope that is really soon though cuz Sakura, Kakashi and Naruto are just now going up against Sasuke! >:D

ok... first you need to better word this but i guess this is what u ment... Ok well Itachi gave naruto power but DID NOT give him the sharingan to him. it would be impossible to give it to him with out a eye transplant. and itachi acted as if he was evil. he was good the entire time! he didnt want sasuke to know so he acted as if he wanted his eye so sasuke would fight back with full power. itachi got sasuke to use almost all chakra so orichimaru would come out and itachi could finish him off. itachi then used all chakra of his own so he would die. his death caused sasukes sharingan to transform into his (enternal) mangekyou sharingan. You can skip it all and just read this -- NO NARUTO DOES NOT HAVE SHARINGAN and yes because of Itachi's suicide sasuke got his eternal sharingan.
