Japan wanted more resources because at the time it was very far back in technology and incomes to bring in tourists. A war was brought out between China, and Korea over Korea's resources of iron and coal. Japan did win the war, and won over Korea as well as Taiwan even with it's rather small army. Unfortunately Russia also became interested in Korea's coal and iron, and soon fought to control the land of Korea.
Foreign countries wanted to trade with Japan because the Japanies had valuable resources such as silk.
Not only did they obviously want more territory, but the islands they conquered were rich in natural resources. More money, more land, more power.

Japan wanted to control China for land and natural resources. The Japanese thought they were the "superrace" and wanted other countries to fear them.

Why woulnt they want more land. If they cold get more land that would mean more resources and more power
Answer this question… To obtain natural resources that would strengthen the Japanese military
Japan lacked the natural resources needed to expand its economy and military. China, was large but weak in the early part of the 20th century. In 1931, Japan invaded China with the intent of taking advantage of China's wealth of natural resources.
