Henry put Eleanor in jail because of her role in the rebellion of his sons. Eleanor was using their sons against Henry and he felt that the only way she could be stopped was to put her under house arrest.
Eleanor didn't go to "prison" but she was sent into exile/house arrest by her husband because she tried to overthrow the crown with her sons. This made her a traitor even though she was the queen. He had her removed to a distant castle and kept under guard. When he died she was free and lived until 82 or 83 years old. She was the wife of 2 knigs, the mother of 2 kings and the grandmother of a queen.
Henry II kept Eleanor of Aquitaine under house arrest for sixteen years to try and stop her from causing rebellion in her lands with her sons.
