The theory is the Egyptians built the Pyramids as Tombs and 'machines' designed to transport the soul of the Pharaoh into the Heavens, Sirius the Dog Star, to begin his 'Eternal Life'. Another theory indicates the Egyptians used the Pyramids were used for ritual, not burial, as the Pyramid Texts (Book of the Dead) are not painted on any surface of the Pyramid. Without those spells you cannot enter the Halls of the Gods to be judged.
Mesopotamians lived in many places. One of the places they lived in were pyramids. Mesopotamians were very good at architecure, so instead of living in stone and wooden houses, they lived in pyramids. Pyramids were also used for temples because Mesopotamians did a lot of ceremonies.
