Moses fled from Egypt as a felon because he murdered an Egyptian. Long before the burning bush, Moses knew that he was chosen by God to deliver the Israelites from the bondage of the Egyptians. He tried it his way, by murdering an Egyptian, and not God's way, thereby extending their wait for deliverance another 40 years.
