Almost certainly, that was not the cat's claw, but simply a cast-off layer of her claw. Cats' claws grow in layers, and an entire layer is generally cast off at once, leaving something that looks like a claw but has flexible bottom edges. This is how cats sharpen their claws, actually; by pulling off the old, dulled layer to reveal the new, sharp layer underneath.
If you want to confirm this to yourself, examine your cat's claws closely after you find one of these cast-off claws; you'll find she still has all five on each paw.

According to wikipedia, cats walk "singly" at slow speeds--that is, instead of moving front-right with back-left, front-left with back-right paw, as other mammals seem mostly to do, cats tend to move one side of their bodies at a time--front-right with back-right, front-left with back-left paw. Humans walk like other mammals, opposing their arms' swing to their steps--left arm swings forward with right foot, right arm swings forward with left foot.
A claw hammer is a lever when using the claw to pull a nail. A crowbar or pry bar is also a lever. Automobile friction jacks are also levers. Your arm is a biological (biomechanical) lever.
There are many arm muscles. The triceps (on the back of your upper-arm) contract when you straighten your arm, and the biceps (the front of the upper-arm) relaxes.
