That's usually an indication of a change of branding. Maybe the company thought that the `gas' no longer fit the direction the programming was going in or just got tired of the logo and decided to change it. It happens quite often.

Due to a low success rate, Nick GAS was taken off channel 124 and was replaced with The N. (This answer can only help people with Cablevision)
It is possible. A more likely cause is the gas cap was replaced incorrectly or left off after getting gas
In June 1992, VIACOM International Media Networks Group, LLC., launched a 24-hour cable/satellite TV network named, "Nickelodeon Games & Sports for Kids", which was commonly nicknamed and referred to as, "Nick GaS". On February 2, 1999, VIACOM replaced "Nickelodeon Games & Sports for Kids" (Nick GaS) on all cable and satellite TV networks nationwide with a new daytime TV network named, "Noggin". On April 1, 2002, "Noggin" began changing to "The N" during the overnight hours broadcasting TV programs aimed towards tweens (10-12) and teenagers (ages 13-21). On September 28, 2009, "Noggin/The N" changed its programming completely and re-branded itself as the present-day "TeenNick", which is available on all cable and satellite TV providers across the United States of America. TeenNick broadcasts television programs aimed towards tweens (10-12) and teenagers (ages 13-21).

There is probably a leak in the tank and it should definitely be repaired or replaced.
For Dish Network it will be 177, which is what Nick GAS is currently on, but they are having difficulties axing that network and splitting Noggin and The N. Just keep checking and it shall be there soon. If you have digital cable or Direct TV you should already have the channel, just search for it.
