People are free to think what they want. If they've been brought up in a society which looks down on other peoples religion, the result is that they will treat others differently. Take a look at most religions, they do not support or will not openly support gay people. They will only look down on people or have a double standard toward gay people since it is what they have been taught. - That is the society that they have been brought up in and fortunately it is a double standard to which the attitude of it is changing.
