They think that it is vital to the way of life in the south. They also thought it was best for slaves to be enslaved because they thought they were lazy if they weren't forced to do work. The main reason they had slaves was so they could produce cotton quickly to earn more money.

the effects were that the plants couldnt survive because they were not watered and they didnt have the right nutrition and the owners didnt care at all i dont think because they were too busy thinking about slaves and how much money they can get out of the slaves after they have worked for them .just like domestic slaves they work ,but in those days they didnt get paid at all
