The siege of Petersburg a city in Virginia was the main factor in the fall of Richmond. Petersburg lay south of the Confederate capital of Richmond. By laying siege to this city it began to cut off the railway supplies to Richmond.
The Battle of Quebec took place in Quebec Canada. British General Wolfe lay siege to the city in June, 1789. On 12 Sept he landed 4000 troop and snuck up to the Plains of Abraham, just outside the city. On 13 Sept 1789 he and his troops soundly clobbered the French under Montcalm, thus ending the battle and forced the surrender of the French. Both Montcalm and Wolfe were killed in this battle.
