Queen Marie Antoinette (1755 - 1793) never did such a thing!
The reason France was bankrupt, was because King Louis XIV had decided to have Versailles build (in 1680) which had cost the state several millions and because Louis XV had decided to help out the Americans in their American Revolution, while the treasury was already as good as empty.
In 1789, right after the storming of the Bastille they were put under "house arrest" in the Tuillerie palace in Paris. In 1791 they were arrested in Varennes and were brought back to the Tuillerie palace, and in 1792 they were imprissoned at the Temple prison.
In August 1789 Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI and their children were forced by the Parisians to move from Versailles to the Tuileries castle. Here they were put under house arrest (which can be called imprisoned because they were guarded 24 hours a day and weren't allowed to go anywhere but the gardens. After they had tried to escape to Montmedy and were caught in Varennes, they were put in the Temple prison, which was an actual jail.
At the time, the French people saw her not so much as a help to France, but as a menace. She did make significant, positive changes for France though, but they were recognized as such later, after she had died. She was the one that made Paris thé fashion capital in the world. She was the one that put Paris on the map of haute couture. Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Lacroix, Chanel, all the big designers still make clothing inspired by her. Also, she introduced the Croissant to France, making it the most famous sign of France, still today. She also ensured womens rights by showing (by her clothing and character) that a woman is someone to take account of and that there is more to a Queen than providing heirs to a throne.
The failure to keep her country wealthy; France became very poor because of the debt the Queen put the country through, and the spending of money which was unecessary, and which the country did not have.

The shoes were put in the shot purposefully to portray Marie-Antoinette as a typical teenage girl, despite the time she lived in.
Marie Antoinette was born November 2, 1755 in Vienna, Austria. She was the youngest and most beautiful daughterof Francis Stephen I and Maria Theresa, Emperor and Empress of the Holy Roman Empire. She was a gifted musician and equestrian.Marie Antoinette was brought up believing her destiny was to become queen of France. She married the crown prince of France in 1770. Four years later she became queen when her husband was crowned King Louis XVI (House of Bourbon). The stories of Antoinette's excesses are vastly overstated. In fact, rather than ignoring France's growing financial crisis, she reduced the royal household staff, eliminating many unnecessary positions that were based solely on privilege. In the process she offended the nobles, adding their condemnation to the scandalous stories spread by royal hopefuls. It was the nobility that balked at the financial reforms the government ministers tried to make, not the King and Queen, who were in favor of change. In truth, Antoinette and Louis were placed in harms' way not only by elements of their personalities, but by the changing face of political and social ideology in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1789 a mob descended on the palace at Versailles and demanded the royal family move to the Tuilerie palace inside Paris. From that point on the King and Queen were virtual prisoners. Antoinette sought aid from other European rulers including her brother, the Austrian Emperor, and her sister, Queen of Naples. After a failed attempt to flee Paris in 1791 Antoinette continued to seek aid from abroad. When Austria and Prussia declared war on France, she was accused of passing military secrets to the enemy. On August 10, 1792 the royal family was arrested on suspicion of treason and imprisoned. On January 21, 1793 King Louis XVI was convicted and executed on the guillotine.Marie Antoinette was cruely treated during her final days of captivity. Her best friend, the Princess de Lambelle, was killed and her severed head was put on a pike and paraded in front of the Queen. Her children (Marie Therese and Louis XVII) were taken from her. Louis XVII was subjected to abuse by the family's jailers and later died, supposedly of Tuberculosis and malnutrition. Marie Therese, her firstborn daughter was the only family member to survive.
