Why did slave owners want to capture Harriet Tubman?
because she was smart
He was the husband of harriet tubman. Harriet Tubman is one of the most well-known of all the Underground Railroad's "conductors." Making over 19 trips in a 10 year time period, she smuggled over 300 slaves from their "owners" to freedom. Harriet was herself an escaped slave. To many she was considered a hero. To slave owners she was considered a hated criminal. They put a bounty on her head.
Harriet Tubman was known for successfully getting slaves to freedom in the north, and knowing slave owners, they really did not like that very much, they wanted her success to end, so they put up a higher reward for her capture, so more slaves would stay on their plantation. So it was really "the higher the reward, the more likely people would really look for her."
Harriet Tubman was born a slave. she was originally an indoor slave but when she spilled cider at the dinner table. then her owners, Esther and Edward Brodas made her a field slave. her uncle Old Ben taught her many ways to survive in the wild so Harrie Tubman escaped slavery and conducted the underground railroad to free slaves everywhere!!
