Why did some Americans side with France in the war between Britain and France?
France was an Ally of Britain in world war 2,So there couldn't have been a war between them. Although it was occupied by the Nazi's from around 1940-1945.
The French and Indian war took place in The Ohio River Valley in 1753. France and Britain were fighting over The Ohio River Valley. The Native Americans decided to side with the French at first, but after Britain started winning battles, the Native Americans decided to side with Britain. Later, Britain won the war.

Reciprocity, which means free trade, between the US and Canada, would help Canada's economy considerably. However, when Canada's mother country, Britain, supported the SOUTH side, the LOSING side to the American Civil War, the Americans (the NORTH side, who won) cancelled reciprocity as revenge on Britain for unofficially supporting the South. With Confederation, Canada would be independent from Britain, and therefore, the Americans could not do things to CANADA as revenge on BRITAIN. :)
They wanted to form an alliance with France because they knew the French were powerful and the Americans needed help to defeat the British. The Americans also had lack of weapons and with the French on their side they could have weapons and more soldiers. America at the time was weak, and needed some help. The French wanted to help America because of it's rebellion from Britain.

Britain didn't "choose" the Allied side. Britain played a key role in creating the Allied side. Britain and France had pledged themselves by treaty to assist Poland if it was attacked. On 1 September 1939 Germany invaded Poland, and two days later Britain and France went to war against Germany. This had the effect of turning what might otherwise have been a local war into a much wider conflict.
