Colonists in America felt oppressed by the British government because their imports and exports were all being taxed very harshly. They had no representatives in Parliament, so they had no one to vouch for them. They felt that the British were taking advantage of the colonists' vulnerability by using them for monetary gain. This was just one reason why the colonists decided to wage war against the British.
