The two Union armies under McClellan and Pope were in a position to combine within a few days, when they would have overwhelmed Lee's Army of Northern Virginia.
Lee could only avert this by moving quickly enough to defeat Pope's army, before McClellan could reach the spot.
Lee and Pope happened to clash at the old battlefield of Bull Run/Manassas. Hence '2nd Bull Run'.
There was no 3rd Bull Run. Only 2.
Same place as Bull Run 1 - Manassas, Virginia

The Battle of Anteitim (The Union won this battle) and The Battle of Bull Run (In which the Confederacy had victory).
Southern Historians generally refer to the second battle of Bull Run as the Second Battle of Manassas. Generally, Southern Historians named battles after place names and Union Historians named battles after Rivers or bodies of water. Manassas was a village. Bull Run was a stream.

Blue, like always
Here are two:1. It came before the Second Battle of Bull Run.2. Until the Second Battle of Bull Run, it was just "the Battle of Bull Run".And a bonus that's not totally ridiculous:The Confederacy named battles after nearby towns or farms, so they called it "Manassas" (or "First Manassas", after there was a Second Manassas). The Union tended to name battles after creeks, rivers, or bodies of water that played a part in the fighting, so they called it "Bull Run" after the Occoquan River, which was also called "Bull Run Creek" because it originated in the nearby Bull Run Mountains.
