I'm only in sixth grade. so please don't blame me if this is wrong. the reason it took place is because the colonists were unhappy with the taxation without representation. So they went to the Boston harbor, this is the biggest harbor in the area. They dumped buckets, upon buckets of tea. They then sailed away and assumed they wouldn't get caught.
