In late December 1778, the British were able to capture Savannah, Georgia.
Everything South of Washington, DC and West to New Orleans was in range.
Most urban areas in the United States have a higher proportion of African Americans than their surrounding areas. However, cities such as Baltimore, Washington DC, Detroit, and New Orleans are known for having a particularly high percentage compared to other urban areas of a similar size.
Yes. The Battle of New Orleans, on January 8, 1815, was the last battle of the War of 1812 between the US and Britain. It occurred because the British, having successfully attacked some cities on the East Coast, tried to exert pressure on the US by seizing New orleans, the valuable port through which all frontier commerce had to pass along the Mississippi River. The peace treaty had already been signed at Ghent (December 24, 1814), but had yet to reach Congress. It was not ratified until February 18, 1815. A British victory (even under the terms of the treaty) might have resulted in a continued British presence in the lower Mississippi Valley.
I can't be precise. But I think it's probably about 2 or 3. New Orleans
it would allow the british to split the country in half.
Washington is the capital of the United states and New Orleans served as one of the most needed ports to the Americans during the War of 1812. To bad Andrew Jackson killed all of them before they could even reach New Orleans. =O
