It appears to be that one of the problems some Catholics had, and then broke off from the Catholics to form the Protestant Church/s was about: why do we have to look at a crucifix with The Lord Jesus Christ being tortured on it, we can be faithful to HIM as the Greatest Teacher and Healer, we don't want him to suffer and we don't want to be reminded of all the suffering. Some agreed, some disagreed. These days, in ALL Presbyterian, Anglican and other Reformist Churches, if you walk into the Church, the crucifix is there WITHOUT portraying Jesus on the Cross, it's called an "empty Cross". That was only one of the problems. Still, I believe we can overlook the differences and also remember HIM for the joyful things he did: Teaching, Healing and so forth. Catholics would disagree, since for such a long time, they have portrayed HIM, on the Cross. Yet, we are talking about the very same thing: The Lord Jesus Christ. The first of the reformers was Martin Luther (NOT 'king'), his idea was: "let's take Jesus off the Cross". There is a branch of Christianity called the "Lutheran" Church, and others. I can see problems, yet at the same time, I think I'm mature enough to look at good things in all of the branches of the Church, and will not race off to a Church to argue and fault-find as SOME, not all, Athiests do.

What religions does Islam stem from?

A:No, Islam did not break away from any other religion. Muslims believe that Islam was the original religion of God, revealed to Muhammad because Judaism and Christianity had strayed from God's true path. Jews and Christians believe that Muhammad learnt about their faiths from the many Jews and Christians in the Arabian peninsula and that he developed Islam from that knowledge, but not that he broke away from either religion in a literal sense. __________________________________________________________It is true; as mentioned above; that Islam religion didn't break away from any religion. However, It should be confirmed that Muhammad (PBUH) didn't develop Islam the same way neither Moses (PBUH) developed Judaism nor Jesus (PBUH) developed Christianity. Islam is God religion developed by God since start of universe creation. Islam means submission and surrender to God the Creator and all God creations (including mankind) were created on submission (Islam) to God. Refer to questions below for more information.
