The vast majority of people in France were poor peasants or day laborers and their status was miserable. Taxes were much too high and the richest classes were exempted. Inflation began to rise and the price of bread, the staple food, soared (due to bad harvests, and to speculation). Unable to earn their livelihood, people began to stir up. The general discontent was supported by educated members of the bourgeoisie (the middle class) and some members of the nobility such as Lafayette who had sympathy for the poor and were aware of the changes of the times (the enlightenment period). The changes in America were an example for these people who were leaders in the French Revolution, until more radical leaders took up. In the same moments that political action began, angry and hungry mobs stormed the toll booths, the grain reserves, and the prison of the Bastille.

There are two ways in which the American Revolution helped cause the French Revolution:The French paid an exorbitant amount of money to help sustain the Colonial Rebel Army and for French armies and navies to fight against the British. As a result, French coffers were notoriously bankrupt. The ideas of the American Revolution, such as the equality of all people and personal freedoms were very attractive to the French bourgeoisie who were limited by authoritarian laws and legal inequalities with the French nobility and clergy. The success of the American Revolution served to inspire the French to rise up and clamor for equality.

The affranchis rebelled against the French government in Saint Domingo due to their lack of political rights and discrimination despite being free people of color. They were inspired by the ideas of the French Revolution and sought equality and freedom from oppressive colonial rule. If people rebel against it.
It was a revolution led by simple men rising up and killing their people and taking their land, much like the government of the 1800's did.
rebel
They felt at the time that it was a bad idea to rebel against an exiting government, because we all depend upon government to preserve law and order, and if you rebel against the government, you might wind up with total anarchy, chaos, and madness. I also believe that some of the monarchists in the late 18th century knew that a revolution against the British crown would eventually lead to Sarah Palin.
They rebel against the government!
