The Golden Gate bridge got open to traffic on May 28, 1943.
It comes from the California gold rush. That's how the passage and the bridge got its name.
it is Jose Baerman Straussph who made the golden gate bridge.=)
One of the main reasons the golden gate bridge was used for was because before this bridge ever existed, the only way to cross the san francisco bay was by ferry, and once that got really crowded, the bridge was built, and helps a lot with the crossing of the bay. =]
The Golden Gate Bridge got it's name from the narrow strait of water that connects the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean. This strait was named the "Golden Gate" by John C Frèmont on 1 July, 1846.
San Francisco was once considered the land of the golden mountain. That is how the the bridge got its name.

The Golden Gate is the entrance into San Francisco harbor. It got its name from the orange-gold rocks that it is composed of. It has never failed. A bridge was later built across the bay at the Golden Gate, so of course, that bridge was named, "Golden Gate Bridge". It has never failed, either. The Tacoma Narrows Bridge failed, though, due to strong wind making it swing faster and faster (Aeroelastic flutter) until it broke into pieces. This bridge was a suspension bridge with towers, similar to the Golden Gate Bridge. This bridge was designed by the same Engineer as the Golden Gate Bridge. When the Tacoma Narrows Bridge came down, the authorities in San Francisco undertook a quick project to brace each end of the Golden Gate Bridge to keep it from fluttering in the wind.
