This is an excellent question and shows, no matter how horrific the Holocaust was, that ALL Jews (even those that didn't survive) had great faith and because of their devoted faith it saved some of their lives (a will to live.) Whether we are Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, etc., if we believe hard enough it makes us braver, strong spiritually and gives us hope. If we know we will die we can still give strength to those to go on ahead of us and let the world know about these horrific tragedies.
I think the best way to understand this better is to try to understand a little bit of what people went through. The best book I have read on this is a short book called NIGHT by Elie Wiesel.
Having said that, here are some things to consider:
* people lost everything they owned: homes, businesses, and every single personal possession.
* people lost everyone in their family.
* They witnessed torture, cruelty, greed, and senseless discrimination in a way that is hard to even comprehend
How does one see such things and put it into a context of a loving, all-knowing, all-powerful God? It is hard for many people to make sense of the holocaust and they didn't have to live through it.
The holocaust caused a crisis of faith for someJews. This was because those who believed that they are God's people, were being systematically and ruthlessly murdered in concentration camps. (Non-religious Jews were also murdered). Some began to question whether there is a God, and if he did exist why would he let such terrible things happen. Many could not contemplate this being a part of God's plan for them. If God was not intervening, does God exist? An example i could give you is that if your sister died in a car-crash, would you not question why God didn't stop it?
Some misguided people, weak in their belief, could not accept that both the good and the bad come from God (Isaiah 45:7). They didn't realize that the holocaust was a fulfillment of several prophecies, familiar to anyone conversant in the Torah. In addition, the miraculous rebirth and creation of the State of Israel, should help put things in perspective. I am not a zionist, but the Jewish accomplishments and prosperity in Israel (and elsewhere) are undeniable and point to God's help "Behind the Scenes."
The Jews had a strong belief and Faith in God , So they didnt understand why God allowed them to suffer harsh treatments during the Holocaust. Therefore, they began to question their faith in God .
The holocaust degraded the jews, so it was a challange to the jewish faith. Either the jew will hold on to thier faith stronger because they want salvation from God. Or a Jew might get angry at God, he blames god for the pain he is in!
The Holocaust is the name we give to the German attempted genocide of the Jews.
The official figure is that 6 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.
6,000,000 Jews were killed during the holocaust.
He made a Holocaust for Jews and blamed them for everything WWII, Financial crisis, etc. He did this, I think, because he was tired of seeing Jews in his life
During the Holocaust, they couldn't practice their faith without dying.
that is a good way of putting it, almost everything else was taken from them
The Jews had a strong belief and Faith in God , So they didnt understand why God allowed them to suffer harsh treatments during the Holocaust. Therefore, they began to question their faith in God .
He had believed that the Jews had caused the great deprssion in Germany while the crisis was in America that time also. And that all the depression was blamed on Jews.
No, Jews were killed by the Nazis on 'racial' grounds. Converts from Judaism to Christianity and atheists of Jewish origin were treated in the same way as practising Jews.
The Jews responded by having more faith in god and by trying to help the allies in any way possible
No. He was the COMPLETE cause of the holocaust happening. He spread abusive and vicious propaganda about the Jews throughout all of German territory to get them to turn against all Jews. The Holocaust probably would not have happened without Hitler, but there were many more factors and influences that had to be in place before the Holocaust would happen.
No, and the Holocaust was about killing the people, not about killing the faith.
The Jews targeted in the Holocaust were civilians.
there would not have been the Holocaust without the Jews.
The holocaust was when Hitler tried to eliminate the Jews by mass murder and genocide. The cause was antisemitism turned evil.
