the Aztecs made the human sacrifices because they believe that is what they had to do to make their around 300 gods happy.

they would kill them and then take the heart of the human sacrifice out right away and hold it up to the sun for the gods and then throw it at a picture of the god.

people were willing to be the sacrifices because they felt it was an honour to die for their gods.

The Aztecs sacrificed because of something known as tonalli which means animating spirit. it was to be found in the blood of humans when one becomes frightened. Without the sacrifice, all motion stops, even the movement of the sun. So when the Aztecs made their sacrifices, as far as they were concerned, they were keeping the sun from halting in its orbit.

another reason for the sacrafices was cannibalism. Humans were thought to be delicacies. So after the sacrafices had their chest wriped open and their hearts taken out, their limbs were taken off and cooked, and then served to royalty.it must be remembered that the Aztecs had no domestic livestock so the body leftovers (the hearts given to the gods were the main course) from the ritual sacrifices was a way for the Aztec royalty to obtain proteins and fats.
