Lutheran ideas had a big impact in Europe in general because many believed that the catholic church had surrended its ideals and become too greedy and corrupted. Its practice of handing out indulgences for money and sales of everything from pictures of saint to allegedly holy relics. I say allegedly because at one time there were 15 apostles buried in Spain alone, confirmed by the catholic church. Another reason was that the kings of Europe wanted more power, and the Lutheran way was one where the worldly kings would control the worldly powers, and the church would stick to religion and morals.
The strong appeal in Germany was the These help them to move toward a break with the Catholic church and called for the German Princes to overthrow the papacy in Germany to establish a reformed German Church.
Gave the people what they wanted to hear. Down to Earth.

Bach was a Christian by religion. He spent much of his working life as Kapelmeister (Musical director) in churches in Germany. The denomination of Christianity prevalent in Germany is Lutheranism - a Christian Protestant Church founded by Martin Luther who was instrumental in separating the church in Germany from Rome as, in those days the Roman Catholic Church was corrupt. So Bach was a Lutheran. He arranged many Lutheran hymns (called Chorales) for organ, and provided what we now know as his 'Chorale preludes' - many of which are regarded now as short masterpieces for the organ.

In Germany after World War 1 (as in most of the other new democracies in Europe) there was much hostility towards democracy, and a deep-seated yearning for the simplicities of authoritarian rule. (I know that to people in the West this sounds bewildering). There was also a naive belief that the country needed a 'great leader'. Moreover, for many Germans at the time democracy was associated with Britain, France and the US. It was associated with defeat and with listening to opponents and with compromise. However, democracy lasted longer in Germany than in Poland, Hungary, Yugoslavia ... Outside Bavaria, Hitler didn't have that much appeal till 1930 onwards. He seemed to offer simple solutions to complex problems. He was a very skilful rabble-rouser, too. At the time Germany lacked a well run, conventional conservative party with mass appeal. Joncey

Appeal property taxes is the act of arguing that your property is not worth nearly as much as it is made out to be. The higher the value of your property, the more taxes you will pay, which is why some people appeal this value estimate.
