The Phoenicians lived in modern day Lebanon. They developed ships which allowed them to conduct trade all over the Medditerranian world. They further developed an efficient written language which alloed them to keep records of trade and prices throuough their trading area. They thus were able to carry goods from one people to another, far away, who might never have heard of each other before but were now connected by the Phoenecians.
