The Phoenicians lived in modern day Lebanon. They developed ships which allowed them to conduct trade all over the Medditerranian world. They further developed an efficient written language which alloed them to keep records of trade and prices throuough their trading area. They thus were able to carry goods from one people to another, far away, who might never have heard of each other before but were now connected by the Phoenecians.
sorrybut i really don't know
It was a container for their wet and dry goods - for home consumption and for trade.
The Phoenicians had limited agricultural land so they turned trade to support themselves and increase prosperity.
They did, but population outgrew land area, so they had two options -conquer more land or trade. They selected trade.
Because there was not enough land to grow crops to feed all of the Phoenicians, they had to turn to the sea for trade. So they mostly used ships for transportation. I would have to guess that on land, they would just walk.
so they could have more things to work with, so say they have a ton of farming goods and they need tools, so they would trade farming goods for tools. HOPE THIS HELPS!
there was not enough food to grow for all the people even though the land was so rich.
It made their trading fleet and was an export commodity.

Their homeland was unable to sustain a growing population, so they turned to trade rather than conquest, and the trading stations gave them firm and protected operating bases in their main trading areas.
Their prosperity was based on carriage trade so they carried and sold all produce and slaves, including spices which were in high demand in a pre-refrigeration world, where foodstuffs deteriorated quickly.
The Phoenicians use the sea for trade because the alternative - slow 1 ton carts was impossibly over distances greater than 60 km, and their trade distances were in 1,000s of km.
