∙ 15y agoBecause they felt the Anglican Church had not gone far enough in its reforms and remained to close the Roman Catholic doctrine.
Specifically they did not like the Elizabethan Compromise, which allowed the Mass to be carried out and forced all Puritans to attend Church of England assemblys where they Mass was required.
Mass is where the alleged actual body and blood of Jesus is present at the altar.
Also the ligurgical rituals were intact, like the Priestly robes and garments, the Puritans rejected these as "popish" (too similar to the Pope)
