They developed because when they had a lot of food that would last a while, they were able to have children, which increased the population. Instead of them just hunting and gathering, they developed farming and planting. They soon learned new techniques and had different skills. They used their skills and made it into jobs. And soon, they were building a city.

Humans were originally all hunter-gatherers, moving around with the seasons gathering foodstuffs and taking animals and fish. When it was found that sowing seeds could produce reliable crops without the wandering, farming communities were set up. To provide a refuge against predatory neighbouring communities and nomads, a fort was established on a hill, and around this a township grew up around the fort as the population increased and socialised.

With increasing prosperity and development to trades and manufacturing, the towns developed further into cities.
