The Titanic sunk in the North Atlantic on it's maiden voyage in April of 1912. At 11:40 pm on April 14, 1912 the Titanic hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic. At 2:20 am on April 15, 1912 the Titanic completely sunk into the Atlantic Ocean. 712 people survived and 1,495 people perished because of the lack of lifeboats and the freezing water. Most people did not die because they drowned, most died because they froze to death in the icy water. The Titanic is arguably the most famous shipwreck of all time.
