They felt at the time that it was a bad idea to rebel against an exiting government, because we all depend upon government to preserve Law and Order, and if you rebel against the government, you might wind up with total anarchy, chaos, and madness. I also believe that some of the monarchists in the late 18th century knew that a revolution against the British crown would eventually lead to Sarah Palin.
