Why did the Soviets refuse to give up their occupied land in Eastern Europe and Germany?

The Soviets were Communists and Communists are not a good sign. The Soviets (communists) were bold and didn't care about a thing except world Domination which led to the cold war. Anyways Communists always had to control everything and have everything. Communists ain't like that today but they do act like it sometimes.

Why did the US senators refuse to sign the treaty of versalles?

in the treaty of Versailles Britain and France wanted Germany to pay for damages it caused in Europe, when in fact that Germany's ally Austria-Hungary and some eastern slavic nation started the war. and from that, the treaty made Germany one of the poorest European nation in the world, like the German Mark (German currency at that time) had no value in it that Germans would use it for kindling to warm their houses

Why was the Soviet Union able to subjugate much of eastern Europe in 1946?

A great deal of the answer to that question is linked to the political strategies deployed by the Soviet Union: the Soviet Union was somewhat quick to initiate the Eastern European states into semi-autonomous regions. The Soviets offered their military assistance to prevent a new German uprising. For Eastern Europe, whom by this point suffered extensively under Nazi Germany's puppet governments, the Soviets had a good deal of clout. The second portion of the subjugation of Eastern Europe under the Soviet system, could also be blamed partially on the West's write-off of the region to the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union, despite their notorious autocracy under Stalin, were still a very politically astute entity, and the Soviet message of collective security, a worker's paradise, and the setting up of Soviet councils and police forces, placated many leftist revolutionaries, the primary source of anti-Nazi sentiment, whom were quite disdainful of militarism and the racially-charged etiquette of Nazi Germany. The Soviet Union offered assistance through the provision of free housing, free food, free jobs, and in general, Eastern Europe was content to see an entity which seemed to care for the poor, especially after Nazi Germany openly exploited them, demeaned, and gleefully killed the "defectives". Soviet politicians were also exceedingly quick to re-centralize local political machines that had been wholly disbanded under the Third Reich's conquest. The Soviets sold themselves as a nation of independent republics; and this made very persuasive propaganda for an Eastern Europe ready to feel relevant in a world which had treated them like refuse. The Soviet Union was a superb salesman, and the military subjugation was not something considered unnecessary, as the fear of a new West German war capitalist was quite probable at the time in the Baltic minds. On the whole, it was a classic example of selling one's liberty for security, which at the time Eastern Europe yearned for security, after the unimaginable obliteration that all of Europe saw in World War II. The Soviets subjugated much of Eastern Europe not by military power, but by diplomacy and salesmanship.
