Germany was also a main reason. the united states wanted to put back west and east Germany. the us wanted to stabilize Germany so that Germany could rebuild its economy and trade with the us. the soviets wanted Germany to stay divided. the soviets wanted this because they were having a lot of problems that were caused by Germany. the soviets felt that if Germany was reunified the could become a threat to them.
