Best Answer

Vikings raided settlements to steal their money and resources, as well as kidnap people for slavery.

================
Slavery wasn't as common as people think. They raided for trade goods. Viking expeditions were primarily for trade. If they should have come across an easy target, they would take advantage.

A viking raded because they did not have much of their own to keep.So a viking from Norway,Sweeden or Denmark would rade and trade for things better than what they had of their own.
