The Pro-Monarchist faction , as opposed to the Red, or Communists.

The White Forces were all anti-Bolshevik, but not all were pro-monarchist. Some White Forces did want to restore the monarchy, but other factions under other leaders wanted to impose either a constitutional democracy or a military Dictatorship. Still, no matter what each faction wanted in the end, they all wanted to kick the Bolsheviks out.

The White Forces were fighting to overthrow the Soviet, or Red, forces that had taken control of the country in the October 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. The ultimate goals of the various White armies were not all the same though. Some wanted to restore the monarchy. Some wanted a democratic constitutional government. Still others, such as the Cossack hosts, simply wanted to be able to control their own lives without regard to who governed the whole of Russia. But first the Soviets had to go.

Why were the Whites the minority?

It's just a plain fact that European countries and America are more developed countries...and more developed countries tend to have a smaller furtility rate. Other Asian countries and Mexico aren't quite as developed, so their furtility is much higher and they slowly are outnumbering whites as the whites drop in numbers.

What was the impact of the bolshevik revolution on the War and Peace how did the allies respond to the Bolsheviks who came to power in Russia in october 1917?

From what I remember, when the Bolsheviks took power in October, 1917, they immediately began peace-talks with Germany. The Russian people had incurred significant losses and the Tsar himself had become the avatar of the Russian war effort when he took charge of the Russian Armed Forces in 1915-16. The Germans demanded enormous concessions and in March, 1918, the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed, ending Russian participation in World War I. The allies responded by aligning themselves with pro-Tsarist forces and even other, less extreme communist forces (Mensheviks aka "Whites"). This Russian Civil War lasted until about 1920, when the Red Army defeated its internal enemies and drove off aggressive Allied forces. The Allies intervention proved to the Bolshevik Party that their revolution would not survive unless they sparked revolution in advanced capitalist countries.
