Because the Egyptians wanted to have good crops. And because the bank of the river Nile is usually moist the crops would grow brilliantly.
The Ancient Egyptians settled along the Nile River because it gave them a plentiful source of water which allowed them to farm. The the river would flood, then leave fertile silt, which grew excellent crops.
The Nile is an unusual river, insofar as it flows through a flood plain most usually called the Nile Basin. Every summer the Nile floods the Basin, refreshing the soil with sediment and providing water for irrigation for miles on each side of the Basin. Without this annual renewal (thought by the ancient egyptians to be the personal work and responsibility of the Pharoah himself) the soil of the Basin would soon be exhausted and incapable of previding the crucial crops of flax and wheat. So, the people of ancient Egypt preferred to live near The Nile because that was where, literally, the soil and water was.
The Nile River's annual flooding benefited Egypt by providing irrigation and deposited silt for fertile soil. In Nubia, the Nile ran high on the river banks which left little room for farming and people had to live near the river for their water supply.you have to add more detail
