In the story, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, he wanted to do it to get a break from his work and to get some attention. He did it so many times that everyone was angry and didn't come the last time when he was telling the truth.

∙ 11y agoI'm assuming you're talking about the story: This kid, we'll call him George, had to babysit some sheep way back when. Well, George didn't want to or something and got bored. In order to add some happiness to his life, he ran into town, shouting to the civilians that a wolf was attacking sheep. The civilians grabbed their axes and torches and ran to save the sheep, to see no wolf. George finds it really amusing seeing them all frustrated, and the next day, shouts that the wolf is back. The same thing happens, no wolf. Then, George tells everyone how stupid they were believing it and how they should've seen the looks on their faces (okay, maybe not that cruelly, but that was generally what he said). A few days later, George is watching the sheep again and this time the wolf comes and takes a sheep. George runs into town, shouting about the wolf. No one believes him. He keeps trying to convince the civilians, no luck. Defeated, he returns back to the group of sheep, all of them dead.
I personally don't like how the wolf is a bad guy. Wolves are graceful creatures. But that's not the point.
