maybe they thought it would turn to green.
or they didn't want to make their things so they used copper cause their is allot of copper in the united states cause we use it to make pennies but we don't use it that often.
I think either that they like the color gold and knew that it would change to green or they didn't know it would change green or they ran out of zinc or they did want the statue to be green but didn't have any more green materials and all they had was copper.
Copper is very easy to work with and it had to be transported from France in shipping crates. Each section was made in France and bolted together in the NY Harbor. It has an iron frame and the copper was easy to shape.
When pure copper is exposed to oxygen it oxidizes and turns green.
if it was made with zinc it would have eroded a long time ago
Oxidization of Copper, like rusting of Iron
light weight
yes.
the builders used copper to build the statue of liberty!! The statue is made of a sheathing of pure copper, hung on a framework of steel (originally puddled iron) with the exception of the flame of the torch, which is coated in gold leaf (originally made of copper and later altered to hold glass panes).
214 sheets of copper
Steel and copper - however, the flame on her torch is covered in gold leaf.
The Statue of Liberty was made out of copper and steel, not rocks. The same man who made the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, made the Statue of Liberty.
piece by pieceAnswerThe Statue of Liberty was actually a gift from France and it was originally designed and built there: Huge molds were constructed and copper was poured into them. When it cooled the statue was assembled. Once they were sure that everything was where it should be, the statue was broken down and shipped across the ocean to the U.S, where it was once again reassembled.
They gave us a Statue of Liberty, we gave them Liberty in fact, twice.
it was made with iron frame and the shell was made of copper. the crown of the statue was made of pure iron and had 25 glass windown for people to view new york from. The statue is built with an iron frame and copper sheeting for the skin.
France gave it to say thank youit took 2,550 gallons of copper to make it,it took 4 years
Yes u dummass you can make it out of any metal you want. the reason people don't is because copper oxidizes and becomes scummy and green like old pennies or the statue of liberty.
for our contry
People still impact the statue of liberty because it is a large woman and people in the army a long time ago used the base for shelter while getting the enemys killed to make us a safer place to live
When a chemical reaction occurs, elements and compounds combine in different ways to make new materials. The elements copper and oxygen have reacted to form a new compound, copper oxide.
