It would depend on which civil war you are referring to.
It was humorously nicknamed the Anaconda Plan, because it was thought to be too slow for what most people thought would be a short war.
Because the south's belief/outlook on slavery clashed with the belief/outlook of the north.
This means that the civil war was brutal .....
Civil War and the War of 1812.
Battlefield progress on both sides.
Civil war or revolution depends which side wins. Its called a civil war if the war is in progress or the government wins. Its called a revolution if the rebels win.

The US did have a civil war in the 19th century. Many other countries have had civil wars, and some are still in progress even as I type. The Democratic Republic of Congo is still fighting a very destructive civil war, for example, in which millions of people have already died.
Kansas did not break away from any other state during the Civil War. Kansas became a territory in 1854 and became a state January 29, 1861, just a few months before the Civil War began.
The war in the west was characterized by large movements of battlefields, consistent union progress, long supply lines, and featured a large number of irregular units of Confederate-aligned raiders. In contrast the war in the east was usually one of very slow movement, fixed fighting positions, little union progress for three years, and large invasions of the north attempted by the Confederates. Nearly all fighting was done by regiments under control of divisions and generals rather than by partisan raiders.
# i do believe that American history is a narative of progress or democrscy because pancake burgers!!!!!!
The Anaconda (slow strangulation). Most politicians and Generals thought it would be too slow for the short war they envisaged.
I think you mean civil rights movement. There was nothing resembling a 'Civil War movement'. The South wanted to break away and form a separate nation.
