Think about it for a moment, the colonies were poor and could not afford the massive amount of taxas on imported goods from anywhere but britin. all the taxas that were made was to help pay for the french and Indian war which the colonists were not apart of, and they had to help pay for the war + all the taxas. now if you have to pay for a 30$ cup of coffe and a british citizen only paid 2$ would you be mad?
It was quite reasonable for the British Empire to expect the colonies to pay for the French and Indian War. A lot of the colonists' resentment was due to lack of representation in Parliament ('taxation without representation is tyranny'), coupled with the Empire's insistence on controlling all trade into and out of the colonies, so as to maximize revenue. There was also a growing feeling among the colonists that they weren't really British anymore - a lot of them had been born in the colonies, or had left the UK due to religious and/or political differences, and felt no particular attachment to the Empire.
taxation without representation! the colonists were not represented in parliament therefore they did not feel they had the right to be taxed if they couldn't have representatives help decide what the taxes were hope this helps!
So the colonists beSan to resist the taxes. In 7770, five people were
killed in Boston when British troops fired on a crowd protesting the
taxes. In 7773, also in Boston, rebels disguised as First Nations
people boarded ships in the harbour and threw chests of tea into the
sea. This event is known as the Boston Tea Party. By this time,
mar;ry in the Thirteen Colonies were ready to fight the British.
As you can see, the situation in the early 7770s was explosive.
The British Parliament could have taken several actions to resolve their differences with the colonists and strengthen relations with America. They could have given the colonists representation in Parliament, allowing them a say in the laws that affected them. They could have repealed the various taxation acts that fueled the colonists' grievances. Lastly, they could have engaged in more open and inclusive dialogue with colonial leaders to address their concerns and find common ground.

The reason King George and Parliament did not give the American colonists representation in the legislature is because they did not consider the colonists citizens of England, but rather inhabitants of a British colony.
people in New England colonies had the french and Indian war and then the king said that they could only go on the east side or the mountains then Parliament started making laws for colonists and the colonists didn't like it so they boycotted British goods then when ships were coming in the harbor in America colonists started throwing tea crates overboard then the British got mad and that's what started the war
Taxes were imposed on the colonists for economical reasons. The economy of the American colonies was so robust that England wanted a share of the profits.
denied the rights of citizens who lived in England
they didnt have the same rights as english citizens
Freedom from Tyranny. The King of England was continuing to charge outrages taxes for everything needed by the colonists. There was no representation of the colonists in British Parliament.
The British colonists in America came from England, and therefore originally shared elements of a common culture!
