Revolts against Spanish rule broke out throughout the Americas
Filipino revolts against the Spanish colonizers were mostly triggered by the forced labor imposed by the Spaniards, and the abuses done by Spanish officials and friars. Filipino revolts against the American soldiers were caused by the Filipinos' opposition to the "pacification" strategies of the US. The Balangiga Massacre is an example.

There are several factors that trigger the Filipinos to make a revolt, these are economic, religious and personal. The polo y servicio or forced labor, tax or tribute, tobacco monopoly, Galleon trade are under economic factors. Religius are those groups or tribes who led a revolt because they do not want to accept catholicism and leave their old religion. Personal because revolts like of Dagohoy and the Tagalog Revolt are of personal reasons. However, all of these revolts failed because of regionalism. The leaders only want to defend their province and therefore outnumbered by the Spaniards-Filipino army.
