The French went to the Ohio River Valley because it was a place with many beavers. The beavers supplied fur that were great for fur coats. Therefore, the fur trade began. The English also had the idea but they did not want to share the land with the French. They wanted it to themselves. When the French did not leave the Ohio River Valley, war broke out. This war was called the French and Indian War. This was because both the French and the English joined with Native Americans in order to make their army stronger. The French allied with the Algonquian's and Huran. The English sided with the Iroquois Confederacy after promising them a piece of land if they were to win the war. The French won every war except for the last which proved to be the end of the war and England was declared the winner. The English broke their promise to the Native Americans and kept all of the land to themselves. I hope this helped. ;)
