The houses of 1666 where made of mainly wood and hay which is highly flammable so the fire would just ignite and continue to burn due to the houses being so closely packed.

· All of the houses where made out of wood so the fire caught to the house very quickly and each house burnt down very quick.

· The roofs where made out of hay and hay is burnt very easily.

· All of the houses where very close together so once one house caught alight the next were soon after. The house where pretty much joint together.

· The occasion the fire was in was during summer time so this meant that the wood on the houses was dry and the hay for the roof was dry, which meant the houses caught fire even quicker.

Also, to improve, the reason the fire spread far and quickly was that a strong wind was gusting towards the East which made it spread further.

Many of the houses were made of highly flammable straw-like material, and on that particular night reports say the wind was particularly strong. Both factors contributed to a very fast spread of fire.

What were the conflicts and compromises in the Great Fire of Chicago?

One of the conflicts about the Great Fire of Chicago was the debate about what caused the fire. One reason the fire spread so quickly and so far was because a lot of the buildings were made out of wood. A compromise made after the fire was that many of the building that were rebuilt were not made out of wood to make them more fireproof.

How did they get rid of the Bubonic plague?

It was the great fire of London that stopped the plague, people had nothing to do with it as far as I'm concerned. The great fire of London in 1667 was said to have stopped the plague. This was not true. There was very little of the plague left in London when the fire started.
