The Pilgrims seeked religous freedom so they fled from England to The Netherlands (Holland). After 10 years there they decided to go to America.
The Dutch asked if they would claim land for them they refused (to close to Dutch inflouence). They got docking warrent from the London-Virginia Company but landed in what is now Massachusets they signed they Maylflower Compact and since they werent in Virginia they decided to stay and they started the settlement of Plymouth.
