they had more farmland
Both colonies had an Aliance towards Mother England, had some sort of Slavery, and ... (still need more)
Northeners did not like the way that southerner people treated African Americans AND in the north they were mostly manufacturing companies so they didn't need slaves...southerners farmed and needed someone to harvest their goods.
The northerners didn't hate slavery in the beginning. They didnt need it. Most farms were not very large like plantations and the industrial revolution started there so they had small farms and no need for slaves. Eventually the reformers came around and everyone who didnt use them realized who cruel having a slave was. Hope this helped.
Southerners typically supported slavery because the south's major crop was cotton which was difficult to pick so they get slaves to do it. Northerners opposed slavery mainly because they had no need for it because of the rocky soil.
The more the State in America was growing cotton the more they were in need of slaves and hence the slavery trade got flourished.
There was some slavery, for a time, in the North, but there were more crops in the South than in the North, e.g. less need in the north.
Once it was illegal to import slaves from Africa, Southerners tried to increase the existing supply of slaves. They encouraged slave families to have as many children as possible.
The Cotton Gin was invented, leading to slavery growth. Farmers needed more workers to work on their planations, causing the need for more slaves.
Because they couldn't make money off of the slave trade the same as southerners. Most farm land need to grow things like cotton and tobacco are grown in warm climates. added- As the North became more industrialized and the situation of slavery that was a cause of disputes within the Federal government became a talking point among people in the North, many people came to believe that slavery was immoral. But few had the idea that a civil war should be fought to settle that situation.
Georgia is the colony that did not allow slavery at first but changed its laws to permit slavery as more settlers moved in. Initially, James Oglethorpe, the founder of Georgia, banned slavery in order to create a colony that was a haven for debtors and the "worthy poor." However, as the need for labor increased, the prohibition on slavery was lifted.
Slavery was primarily driven by the economic need for cheap labor, as well as the belief in racial superiority and the desire for power and control over others. It was also perpetuated by social and cultural norms that justified the exploitation and dehumanization of certain groups of people.
1) state's rights - the south felt like they weren't treated equally2) sectionalism - favoring one section or state rather than the whole country3) slavery - the south needed slaves for farming, the north was mostly industry so they didnt need slaves. most of the northerners (and some southerners) didn't think slavery was right
