As it turned out, there were also strategic reasons for being first to Berlin. When the Russians arrived first there, a divided Berlin was guaranteed. That situation lasted through the late 1980s when the Berlin Wall was torn down.

He just ruled over Germany, the countries hitler occupied were Nazi German - occupied states.
