Rhodesia was roughly 5.5% European and over 90% Black African, despite this demographic imbalance the Responsible Government ("White Minority") continued to exist against the most strictly enforced sanctions in history and campaign of terrorist violence, it did so with a Security Force that was 80% Black African by the final years of UDI. However, in 1975 the Portuguese ruling government which was fighting guerilla wars in its African territories was overthrown in a leftist military coup which then handed the African Portuguese Territories (Angola & Mozambique) to communist sponsored insurgent groups, this was a serious blow to Rhodesia's ability to sustain is booming economy (the best in Africa) against the sanctions. The deathblow came short time later when South Africa pursued a new policy of "detente" with the black nationalist/marxist regimes of the OAU. In 1976 under intense pressure from South Africa the Responsible yielded and attempted an Internal Settlement to maintain a competent government under majority rule, the international community via the OAU, the Commonwealth and the UN refused to recognize the Internal Settlement majority government and forced new election as a result of the Lancaster House Agreement which lead to Robert Mugabe taking power in a corrupt and phoney election.

Zimbabwe was once the British colony of Southern Rhodesia. In 1964 the white-controlled government issued a unilateral declaration of independence and called its country simply Rhodesia. Following the resulting civil war, a settlement with the Black forces in 1979 produced an independent government with both white and black participation, and a country called Zimbabwe Rhodesia. In 1980 a transition to full majority rule and ceremonial independence from the UK was accompanied by a name change to Zimbabwe. So Zimbabwe has been fully independent since 1980, at the least.
What are you talking about?
