Jesus died on the cross in order to save us from our sins which no longer needs animal blood. so, Jesus willed human for He said "no one takes my life from me but i lay it down on my own accord". This is because of the love He has for us that made him to lay down his life on the cross of calvary. So that we will gain eternal salvation

AnswerBecause it was prophesied. Christ was hung on a cross [some translations render it 'tree'] because He took our sins upon Himself, was therefore cursed by God, and a cursed person was hung on a tree:-

Deu 21:22 And if a man has committed a sinworthy of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree,

Deu 21:23 his body shall not remain all night on the tree; but burying you shall bury him the same day. For he that is hanged is a reproach to God. And you shall not defile your land which Jehovah your God is giving to you as an inheritance.

Gal 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us; for it has been written, "Cursed is everyone having been hung on a tree;"

also: because that's how the Romans crucified people and Jesus was not the first nor the last, if you believe he was a real person that existed. He's never really mentioned in the primary sources written at that time.

There is one ultimate reason why they crucified Jesus. It was God's plan. The very reason why Jesus came to earth, is to die on the cross for our sins. It can also be because the people at that time had the wrong expectations. They expected Jesus, who did all those miracles, to rise in political power and overcome the Roman government that was ruling at that time. But Jesus was not that kind of King. He was, and is, the King of the universe, the King of the spiritual and physical universe.

Jesus was put on the cross so we (sinners) could have redemption of our sin. So that our sins could be erased and we could have a relationship with God and go to Heaven. When Jesus died on the cross he shed His sinless blood which covers ALL our sin. Jesus was buried, and on the third day He was resurrected. This resurrection proved that Jesus was stronger than the devil. Jesus defeated death, the grave and hell. Then He ascended into Heaven. Because of this we can all be saved from our sin. Accept Christ as your Saviour, confess your sin, ask for forgiveness, repent and turn your life over to God.

AnswerWhile the above, which gives a brief reason for Jesus' death in that by his giving his own life, we might be saved from sin, the question asks why jesus was put on a cross.

The simple, pragmatic answer is that the cross, as a method of execution, was by no means unusual. In the Roman Empire, two methods of execution were usually used - beheading by sword (reserved for Roman citizens as it was swift and relatively pain-free) and the brutal barbaric method of crucifixion, which is probably the most painful, shameful, barbaric, brutal method of execution ever thought up in the hostory of humanity.

As Jesus was a Jew, it was this punishment that he suffered - along with two other thieves that day. However, despite the everyday occurrence of crucifixion in the Empire, Jesus' own crucifixion had an extra dimension - in that as well as the physical and emotional pain, Jesus had to endure separation from God the Father as he took the sins of all on his own shoulders. This must have been the real pain and anguish he suffered on that day.

Therefore, if Jesus had been alive today in bodily form, and his execution took place, instead of cross symbols being seen in churches, in graveyards and around peoples' necks, we would, in 2000 years time, probably see images of the hangman's noose, the electric chair, the syringe or the gun instead.

If they = Philistines then they did whatever they could to kill Jesus when he spread the word because they were afraid that the Romans would not accept them as their leaders.

If they = God then he chose this decision because with that crucifixion all the people's sins would be cleared so they may have a second chance of going to heaven.

Answer:

According to the original wording of the scriptures, Jesus was nailed to a "stauros" [a tree trunk, an upright pale, a stake]... not a "crux" [Latin, cross].

Hanging someone from a pole sticking out of the ground was a popular Roman tool for killing someone with extreme pain, agony and suffering. It had nothing to do with an as-of-yet unknown religion called "Christianity."

The cross was a pagan sign long before an apostate Christianity adopted it as its own. People were baking hot-cross buns for the Babylonian Queen of Heaven and "crossing themselves" with the "Tammuz 'T'" centuries before men heard of Jesus Christ. And some of these were Jews!

"The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the Queen of Heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger." (Jer.7:18)

"Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz... Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these..." (Ezek.8:14-15).

Ezekiel was then shown an ancient pagan Babylonian religious practice that modern Christians today call the "sunrise church service": "...at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east." (verse 16)

No one was thinking of anything as poetic as a "Christian cross" when they killed Jesus. It was pure adrenalin-pumping carnal blood-lust and the preferred Roman method of agonizing death... the stauros... pagan and satanic to the core.

They put this on the cross, as he was according to The Bible he died for our sins. But also he was getting popular and a threat to the priests, who wanted to get rid of him.
