Slavery was historically justified by economic interests, racial beliefs, and social hierarchies. It was believed to be acceptable by those who benefitted from the exploitation of enslaved individuals and who sought to maintain power and control over others. However, it is now universally recognized as a grave violation of human rights and a morally reprehensible institution.

Well after reading a bit about slavery in Aristotle's "Politics" I came to have a different understanding for it. If you separate yourself from what you know about the atrocities committed under the name of slavery and think in philosophical terms, there is a way to justify it. I'll answer you're question with a question: Would you think it is OK to have a slave if to achieve both the slave and master's goal it is their advantage to have this symbiotic relationship? Aristotle contends that a slave and master can be friends. I go over this stuff a bit better on my blog at http://www.thephilosophizer.com I hope that provides you with at least a different viewpoint
i think it has to do something with slavery.
