Germany and Japan had an agreement to support each other in war. Germany was involved in Europe trying to occupy and own all of Europe including Russia and the United Kingdom. In America people felt like that was their war and did not affect us until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and destoyed most of America's Pacific fleet killing about 2500 Americans. Once we were at war with Japan it became necessary to assist our allies in Europe as well. After all, they called it world war becasue most of the world was at war.
